Madama Butterfly, an Opera by Giacomo Puccini (1904)

COSTUME DESIGN (2018)

I designed the costume for the roll of the main character - Madama Butterfly.
This costume is my interpretation of a wedding Japanese Kimono, and is designed for the wedding scene in the 1st act of the opera. I’ve been willing to capture the innocent fantasy of the young 15 years old geisha Madama Butterfly, as she walks down the aisle towards, who she believe to be, the love of her life.
